Licenses
Every chiropractor needs a state license
All 50 states and DC license chiropractors. Here is how to check one, and where we have checked for you.
Licensed by the state
Each state has a board that licenses chiropractors, usually called the Board of Chiropractic Examiners. The license is for that state only.
Check it yourself
Every state page links to the board’s official lookup. Search the chiropractor’s name and look for an active status. How to check.
Checked for you
In Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Nevada, Oklahoma and Washington, we checked every chiropractor named at the practices we list against the state’s own license records. Those listings say so.

Eight questions to ask a chiropractor
Ask each practice the same questions and the answers become easy to compare.
- Are you licensed in this state, and what is your license number?
- What happens at the first visit, and how long does it take?
- What does a visit cost, and do you work with my insurance or Medicare?
- Will you explain your findings and the plan, and how many visits you expect, before treatment starts?
- Do you take X-rays or order other imaging, and when do you think they are needed?
- Which techniques do you use, and are there other options if I am not comfortable with one?
- When do you refer patients to a medical doctor or another provider?
- What are your payment, package and cancellation policies?

Quick answers
About ChiroScience
How are practices chosen for this directory?
A practice is listed when its own website names at least one Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) and shows a phone number and an office address. City pages cover offices within about 25 miles of the city; state pages list practices in the state’s other towns. Marketplaces and referral sites are left out. Listings are free and shown A to Z. How we list.
Do you check licenses?
In Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Nevada, Oklahoma and Washington, we checked every chiropractor named at the practices we list against the state’s own license records, and those listings show it. Everywhere else, each listing links to the state’s official lookup so you can check in a minute.
Is a chiropractor listed here recommended by you?
No. A listing means the practice passed our listing rules, not that we vouch for its care. We do not publish ratings or rankings. The order is alphabetical, and paid placements are labeled.
Do you give medical advice?
No. ChiroScience is a directory, not a healthcare provider. For questions about your health, talk to a licensed professional. In an emergency, call 911.
Do I need to tell you anything about my health?
No. You never need to give us any health information to use this site, and there is no patient form. You contact practices directly by phone or through their own websites.
Is it free to use?
Yes. Searching is free. Practices are listed free; some pay for labeled placements.
Are you a chiropractor?
Practices are listed free. Add yours, correct your details, or stand out in your city.
